Partners and Startups

We train and equip leaders, from (insert grade? Is it only high school? to high school seniors to better lead diverse teams through both local and global short-term serving opportunities. Each year, our cultural engagement programs engage several teams in cultural diversity training. We do this by serving locally and globally with various partners from around the world. In the past, we have taken teams to communities in Long Island and New York City. We have also taken teams for longer periods of training to Baltimore, Philadelphia and Albany, as well as internationally to Rwanda, Greece, and India. In the coming years, we hope to return to several previously-visited locations, and we also hope to expand to both Taiwan and the Philippines.

The Christmas Toy Shop was created because we believe that Christmas Day should be special for every child. Thousands of children live in group homes and orphanages throughout the United States. Unfortunately, these children do not experience the same holiday spirit that others do. Our mission is to create pop-up Christmas toy shops so that every child can receive free toys, participate in creative activities and create fun photo memories with Santa and his helpers.

Our approach has been to set up shop in communities of need across Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island who are neglected and marginalized. We hope to accomplish this goal by becoming a physical presence in the community, and by inviting families to a fun-filled shop that allows children to enjoy the experience of being in a Christmas wonderland.

Heart & Soul began with the desire to assist men and women in the transition from a sedentary to an active lifestyle. We have grown from a handful of joggers who meet on Saturday mornings at a track to lifelong runners who have adopted daily runs as part of their regular routine.

Heart & Soul has been used to raise support for international engagement in Pakistan. We have partnered with an education organization, B2TheWorld, to help raise funds to send young people to universities that are receiving from war in their regions. We plan to host 5K and 10K races to continue raising support for Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other war-torn countries that need support to help fund educational opportunities for students.

Edge City Health is a program that will be launching in 2022. Edge City Health will be partnering with Heart & Soul in order to promote community wellness. This program was created in hopes to improve quality of life through patient education on topics such as:

- Healthy eating

- Physical activity

- Blood pressure monitoring

- Stress management

These programs will be led by Christine Kumar, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, a critical care nurse currently working at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills. She is also a newly graduated family nurse practitioner and co-founder of Basecamp.

LIFE Club was started by 2019 by Jason Nieh to support students deal with grief after the passing of a loved one. He created LIFE Club after his own experience of losing a loved one. LIFE Club encourages students by creating a supportive student network, providing students with volunteering activities, and empowering students to become leaders in their community. What once started as a three-person club in March 2019 at Townsend Harris High School has now become a student organization with over a dozen students in regular attendance. Some activities include mindful meditation, creating a family tree, and seminars on how to support friends and family going through times of grief.

Mosaic Creative was started after realizing the struggles many minority-led nonprofits face regarding limited resources in the social media realm. We realize many of these nonprofits have wonderful stories to tell, but no platform to do so. We help in developing basic websites and building a social media presence including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and podcast platforms, depending on their needs.
