Partner: Basecamp
Basecamp was founded in 2019 by Hea Wang and Christine Kumar, two women of color.
Basecamp aims to provide a safe environment for students to receive an excellent education, regardless of their socioeconomic status or background.
The organization kicks off annually with a four week Saturday program in July, aiming to reach local youth from Elmont, Malverne and Hempstead. Basecamp’s goal is to help supplement educational deficiencies, while also building life skills, namely those of teamwork, leadership, and confidence. Basecamp continues throughout the year with other various activities in order to ensure long-lasting growth and guidance for students.

Partner: Camp 252
Camp 252 equips the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders who will bring forth generational change in their communities. We do this by providing a six-week summer program for elementary and middle school students that prioritizes spiritual maturity, academic excellence and a secure environment for their children For more information, please visit the website below.
Partner: RISE
RISE was started by Marie Ellen Galasso after she overcame her own personal struggles. It was then she recognized the importance of finding a community and a space where people could be authentic, and where they could be open about their struggles and their life’s journey. She had a desire to help people recognize and change unhealthy patterns of thinking and behavior to improve their quality of life. RISE offers to meet the needs of the local community through workshops, support groups, individual counseling, and retreats. For more information, please visit the website below.
